World’s first Fujitsu’s H.264 chip encodes/decodes in Full HD

For the first time in the world, Fujitsu’s upcoming H.264 chip offers encoding/decoding 1920 x 1080 (60i/50i) video in real time.

Chip features include:
256MB of onboard FCRAM
Ultra low 750mW power draw (while encoding video)

This $247 (¥30,000) MB86H51 chip will be available to OEMs from 1 July and will reside in consumer-class video recorders.
