Disposable DVD: an Eco-friendly step in DVD industry

By Andrew | April 20, 2008

Disposable DVdGoing against the concept of Movie rentals and cheap DVD promos, a German company is all set to launch what they call the disposable DVDs, which effectively begins eating itself after a couple of days, rendering it unplayable. Thanks to a special chemical present in the DVD that begins to erode the DVD once it is out vacuum packed casing the DVD will go useless.
Priced at €3.99 (£3.19) tht DVD is sure to come across a gamut of challenges both from the users as well as the environmentalists on questions like if it will disintegrate fully or not. I don’t know what’s going to be the fate of this innovation for if this kind of disposable DVD comes to market, the point why companies are investing so much in new manufacturing methods, particularly the not so eco-friendly ones.
Lets see what’s in store for the download and DVD industry.

By Andrew | April 20, 2008

DJ mixer Bag cum Boom box

Combination gadgets are always a treat for those who love the two-in one or all in one applications and this NGC DJ mixer Stereo Boom Bag is one such gadget. A cross breed between a bag and a old school stereo in retro style and a chic music player, the NGC DJ mixer Stereo BOOM BAG not only looks like a boombox but also plays god music like it!
The cool retro bag homes a FM radio packed with a set of fundoo speakers that can be easily connected to your iPOd, phone or for that matter even to a simple MP3 player. Giving you a feeling of that 90s style boom box that we used to carry around or those bags looking like boom boxes, the NGC DJ mixer stereo bag is somewhere a mixture of both. Yes, a portable boombox to play your favourite music together with posing as a retro styled bag to make a classy style statement. The bag is also available in a hip Tape Deck design and is priced at £18.99.

Rotator: The rotating Shower Bath

By Andrew | April 20, 2008

I dunno if this bathing concept will pick some buyers for even too much innovation acts as a killer at times and the Rotating Bath tub falls into the same category. This weird bathing solution comes with a twist in the tale to the conventional shower systems.

One look at it and you have a shower waiting for you and just turn it around to 180 degree and there you have a bath tub, though a strange one (good for stick thin figures for only they can fit into that banana-shaped tub), but yes a bath tub. Once you are through with your bathing concerns and wish to empty it out…just rotate it again to overflow the water.

Rotator Bath tub

I somehow didn’t like the concept for I cannot see dirty water all over my bathing area or you should have a good drainage system in your bathroom floor. Designed by Ron Arad, the “Rotator” as they call it is made of duralite and comes to fore as an object de art rather than a piece of utility.

Samsung Anycall W599, another dual-SIM, dual-network smartphone

By Andrew | April 20, 2008

dual sim, dual network phone Samsung Anycall W599

After major mobile players getting into the dual-SIM, , it’s the not new for another cell-phone biggie to get into the game. Particulary for Samsung, who is bringing out a follow-up to the 2 years old Samsung W399, with its new baby christened Samsung Anycall W599. Samsung Anycall W599 will give you the freedom to switch between GSM and CDMA bands without any hassle. It homes two SIM cards, and runs two networks simultaneously.
Talk about features and Samsung Anyxall W599 packs all those available with the Samsung W399 apart from some add-ons. The new ones include a 2.4-inch stylus-based touchscreen with handwriting recognition, a 2 megapixel camera, 34 MB of internal memory, support for expandable MicroSD cards, and multimedia playback all around.
Unfortunately it’s just an Asian release with a not so catchy moniker ‘Anycall’…still we have to manage with it. As far as the pricing goes, Samsung Anycall W599 will sell for 4,490 Yuan or about $650 USD .

Digital Chopping/ Cutting board

By Andrew | April 8, 2008

digital chopping board

After the clean cube washer-dryer combo for the bachelor, there’s another wonder gadget from the house of Nardo, but this time for people who love to cook.
Check out the hi-tech gift for your kitchen- the digital cutting board.
Brainchild of a design student Marc Nardengeli, the cutting board features a flexible LCD that keeps showing you the recipes that you can cook. It will also give you cooking instructions to make sure that what you’re cooking is edible and won’t poison your family.
To help you further, it also allows you to download recipes so that you can try them out later. Fitted on rubber nonslip feet, the acrylic board contains the circuitry to run the flexible LCD panel and is packaged neatly on top of the other and is sealed with a safety tempered glass panel which allows finger based, touchscreen operation.
A chic design that this is marked with chromium handle at both ends, makes cooking a fun and hi-tech process rather than a monotonous chore. And the best feature is that it’ll be made out of environmentally-friendly materials which won’t kill the planet. Just a concept till now, but we are sure that it will fetch some big thumbs up to give a techie makeover to the good old boring chopping board.

Pizza.com domain name fetches millions

By Andrew | April 8, 2008

pizza .com domain name

Though there exist sites like namecheap.com to book domain names for peanut prices, but at the same times there come situations when a domain name can cost as big as $2.6 million.

This happened with Chris Clark when he fetched the whopping amount at an auction for a domain name called “Pizza.com”, which he booked 14 years ago for a paltry $20.

Clarks turned pizaa.com into an advertising and pizza directory, since there was no point sitting over it. Then came the idea of putting pizza.com to auction after Clark saw Vodka.com making big bucks and their idea worked! And there we have Chris Clark turned into a millionaire thanks to a domain name!
