Epson Toyocom Corp New Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator

GPS systems will soon be having a new technology in hand. Epson Toyocom Corp has just developed a frequency-stable TCXO that has a frequency stability that is high enough for GPS applications, which are of a high-end sort.
The new TCXO or the temperature compensated crystal oscillator, TG-5025BA is packed into the industry’s smallest package and comes with a very small, crystal chip microfabricated, which uses QMEMS technology. It is housed in a ceramic package and the internal wire bonding and the company’s New Platform Oscillator (NPO) ensure a very high rate of reliability. The device also consumes 30% less power than its predecessor. the coolest thing about the oscillator is that it boasts of a 36% smaller footprint and a 43% smaller cubic volume than its predecessor.
Nevertheless, it has a frequency-temperature coefficient, which happens to be an indicator of frequency stability over a temperature range of 0.5 x 10-6 (-30° to +85°). This is a rating equivalent to that of a TCXO in a conventional package size. The TG-5025BA is scheduled to be launched in February 2009.
