Nintendo Unveils DS’s Next Generation Version

Gaming fans that frequent this blog would be glad to know that Nintendo Co Ltd has launched the DSi what it calls the next-generation version of the Nintendo DS portable game console. The new console features a built-in camera; a music player, 3.25-inch LCD panel, and much software will also be released to utilize the camera and music player functions in the console.

The console has a pixel count of about 300,000 and the DSi is preinstalled with software that can color in and process pictures taken by the camera with a touch pen. The DSi will be launched on November 1 and will cost $180. However initially it is available only in Japan.

LG Announces 8 Megapixel Camera Phone

LG has just announced the KC780 8 megapixel cameraphone, which may give stiff competition to Samsung’s new 8 megapixel cameraphone. Though the specs are not available yet for these phones, it is pretty evident that these are going to be high-end models with the latest technology.

It also is being claimed as the thinnest 8-megapixel cameras till date and apparently it will even beat Samsung’s M8800 Pixon. The phone may offer quad-band GSM support and also limited touch screen facilities. We can also expect cool features such as 30fps video recording and of course a very sleek and elegant design.

Foldable Notebook May Trounce EEE PC

Here is a concept that would appeal to any gizmo freak. If you thought the Asus EEE PC was the biggest and hottest thing right now, you may be in for a shock. Yves Behar has designed a concept for a ‘brick’ design. What is being touted as the hybrid iPhone-meets-Macbook-Air gets rid of keyboards and uses an adaptive multitouch screen depending on how it is laid out.

Though tactile feedback is not available, corrective software will make errors less frequent. When opened it will work as a laptop and other modes include eBook, Desktop, and tablet mode.

Sharp Launches XS1 Series LCD TV

If you had been looking for a real grand LCD, then you must consider the newly released AQUOS LCD - the XS1 series by Sharp. These exquisite LCD screen comes with a very high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and has a brightness of 450cd/m2.

At about 2.8 cm at its thickest, this has to be one of the thinnest LCD TVs ever. The XS1 series come with both analog and digital TV tuners. In order to keep the TV slim, the TV tuner and connection options have been moved to an external device. Collaborating with Pioneer, Sharp has developed an integrated speaker system, which consists of a tweeter, two mid-range speakers and also a sub-woofer.

Swype Technology May Replace T9 Text Input

Clive Kushler has launched a new text technology for touch screen gadgets. Previously one had to press each letter but his new “Swype” allows crossing over the touch screen from one letter to another without raising the finger or stylus from the screen till the end of the word. Imagine how easy it would be when you don’t have to cross all the letters and Swype guesses the word just as T9 would. Swype amazes you with its speed when compared to working over the PC keyboard.

Teraokaseiko Launches Two way Touch Panel

Teraokaseiko Co Ltd has unveiled a two-way touch panel display, which you can operate by touching either side of the display. It has been constructed by attaching a resistive touch panel to the both sides of a transparent inorganic EL panel which has also bee developed by Teraokaseiko Co Ltd. The device can be used while mapping software is used as the person’s hand won’t obstruct the image on one side of the screen, he/she can touch the panel from the back and the audience is given an unhindered view.
