Cellphones That Could See Through Walls, In Theory
By Vlad | October 2, 2008

There have been a number of concept phones, which have been covered on this blog, but there couldn’t be anything like the one that we are going to reveal just now. The KDDI scientists have developed a concept phone that could see through the walls and in fact see through opaque surfaces.
The prototype was created using geomagnetic sensors, accelerometers, GPS etc. The device is equipped with high technology, which enables it to determine its own position and also render its surroundings on screen in OpenGL, which consists areas that are not visible. However this phone is still in a theory stage and has not been manufactured yet, even conceptually.
Toshiba’s Media Server Concept Is Uber-Cool
By Vlad | October 1, 2008

Dreams are what inventions and concepts are all about. If you had dreamed ever if a TV, a telephone and a media server could interact with each other, Toshiba seems to have the answer. However, it still is in a concept stage and will take a while for it to materialize.
In this new system, a media server will automatically download media files from the cellphone just when the user drops near the field communication or NFC. Later, the media files can be projected on a wireless HD 1080p TV. However, this being a concept, I won’t be able to swear by it. I could only swear that Toshiba always manages to pull it off, whatever the concept is, and most of its products are great success.
It would be interesting to see a product that lets all these three gadgets interact with one another and finally have a synthesized result.

Man Flies Across The English Channel
By Vlad | September 28, 2008

If you thought humans were not meant to fly, think again, for a Swiss pilot has just flown across the English Channel. What’s new, you may ask. Well, he did not pilot an aircraft over the channel but piloted his own body, in short, he just flew!
All he did was, he fired up his attached jets and flew after leaping from a plane at the height 8,800 feet and then flew across the channel. He reached the other side in less than fifteen minutes. Probably, humans can now dream about flying anywhere they want, if they just attach a few jet engines to their backs.
Solar Powered Bonsai Tree Setup
By Veronica | August 30, 2008

Have a peek at this majestic piece of art, which at first glance may furnish you glimpses of a pretty relic. However in actuality this is a creatively designed mechanism making the most of solar technology. This specifically Bonsai tree shaped solar contrivance has been recently Pioneered by an eco- technocrat named Vivien Muller.

Incorporated with exactly 54 miniature solar panels this contraption can efficiently grab natural sunlight energy in order to charge loads of electrical gadgets. As the photovoltaic panels integrated in this tree figured structure are pettily sized they just confer the illusion of diminutive yet gorgeous tree leaves hence giving whole arrangement a portrait of elegant home decoration piece.

Moreover the powering up of discharged electrical gadgets via this Solar Bonsai is so trouble-free that we can swiftly get our doodads charged by simply plugging in their power leads into the electronic bonsai tray. Besides we can also rework on the facade of this green part of the solar pack by just altering the solar panels hooked on to the tree.
Consequently, in spite of heaps of solar innovations flourishing in the market, this amazing eco-concept would indubitably score its own points as of its atypical green and enhancing aspects.

So with a view to offer a little help to such souls Guopeng Liang brings iBasket – an automated washing machine.

With a transparent cylindrical body made of acrylic glass, engineered plastic and recycled aluminum, the washing machine is pre-programmed to start off the washing spree only after collecting a specific weight of clothes. Once done. It washes the dirty lot for a selected duration, while the built-in air refresh system gets of the smelly odors. And once the washing is over, the LEDs fixed at the bottom flashes out to give you the signal. Ying Yang digital camera: When form meets functionality
By Cheryl | August 19, 2008

All that we could make out from many pictures and very little information available about the Ying Yang digital camera on designer’s website is that it’s a unique and curiosity builder camera.
More than user the camera designed by Kubasek Krzysztof will be a treat to watch for the people getting clicked it seems! The two halves combine to make this camera, with one featuring the lens and the LCD screen, while the other half containing the flash memory and the USB port. So all you need to load the pics into the memory drive or download them into your PC is join the two halves and there you go without any extra wires and cables. Quite smart!
The click button lies in front, which seems quite impractical but despite all those little things that we couldn’t understand the fact that the Ying Yang digi cam is an intelligent combination of functionality and design is crystal clear. And we are simply waiting for this concept to get real!

Monza: Automated Ferrari from the future
By Cheryl | August 18, 2008

Meet Monza, another mean machine straight from the future. Designed by Iman Maghsoudi, this one is a perfect portrayal of his belief that driving cars in the future will be like operating a PC while zooming at 200 km/h. Thanks to the unsurpassable technological advancement this otherwise impossible phenomenon will now be achieved thanks to the hyper-computerized Monza that is not just built for speed but also for auto driving.
At the low speed beginning of your journey on Monza, you’ll be sitting inside the cockpit controlling it like a motorcycle but as soon as the speed exceeds a particular limit, the car gets into the auto mode and the computer takes over relieving you. At this stage, the vehicle transforms into something looking like an airfoil to provide maximum aerodynamics.

The design is such that it creates a lift to reduce friction while the strong ground effects keep you from taking off. Since the vehicle will be swimming in air, thanks to its speed, the 2 manta ray like fins continue their work of adjusting to channel air to keep the vehicle well balanced and swiftly floating…errr…running!
