KDDI Corp Unveils Cellphones That Double Up as Musical Instruments

KDDI Corp has unveiled a number of cool mobile concepts that simply blow your mind. The best one perhaps is the “gakki to keitai” which has a cool design and of course unique features. It is the fusion of a mobile phone and a musical instrument as well as a model equipped with a solar battery. Developed in collaboration with Yamaha Design Institute, it can be describes as a mobile phone that plays and also as a music instrument that makes and receives calls.

This and other models, all feature different musical instrument designs that may blur the differences between mobile phones and music instruments. The phone with the guitar motif “Strings for fingers” has 10 strings under the sliding display on the handset. The “Band in my pocket” is a bar-shaped terminal equipped on its side with an attachment those functions as a harmonica, trombone, etc. The “Sticks in the air” phone is designed to look like a drumstick.

Answer lies in its features that include Wi-Fi to download MIDI files on so that it can play back songs, option to record you performances completely in style and sync with vocals and other instruments. Apart from this, it stores all the files in the hard drive of the piano which you can easily transport to your PC via USB and if the music is actually good you can burn out a CD and enjoy it wherever you want.

Now, to take the music to the next level of innovation the Yamaha Disklavier Piano can be connected to the TV so that you can see all the lyrics and graphics on your screen. There’s more to the musical wonder. The piano can also download songs from the internet and play for you together with pressing the right key at the right musical note. Now, that’s called smart music!
