How many times do you uter the F-word out in frustration of failing to find a parking space for your car? I’m sure the sight of irritated drivers digging out every parking log is common in most of the countries. But very soon the problem will see the dawn of solution atleast out there in San Francisco, when the drivers will be able to get the info about the availability of parking space no where else but on their smart phone.
Yes, that’s the news doing rounds there. This will happen with the help from an innocuous tab of plastic called the “bump†that will soon be glued to the streets. ‘Bump,’ will be battery operated and intended to last for five and 10 years without service.
The wireless sensor network will announce which of the spaces are free at any moment.
Drivers will be alerted to empty parking places by looking at maps on screens of their smartphones. They may even be able to pay for parking by cellphone, and add to the parking meter from their phones without returning to the car.
Now, that’s indeed a great help in a state when the driver has no option but to waste fuel and time searching around for a parking place.
