Whenever the launch date of a BlackBerry is announced people rush to get themselves. Discussions ensue over mugs of beer and blogs about the features, design and which BlackBerry is the ‘BestBerry’. These discussions seem to confuse rather than help those who are not savvy about the Berrys when it comes to choosing one that would suit them the best. RIM seems to be confusing its users even more by launching the new BlackBerry under two marketing names. The BlackBerry Storm 9530 and the BlackBerry Thunder appear to be the same phone in different packaging.
The BlackBerry Storm 9530 will be launched by Verizon in October and its doppelganger, the BlackBerry Thunder will be released by Vodafone and Rogers. Leaked packaging of the BlackBerry Storm/Thunder (I am not sure which now) shows some of the features that we can expect on it/them. This includes 8GB microSD, 3.5mm headset jack and pre-installed SIM card apart from other features. The model surprising does not offer wi-fi capability. I suppose RIM would soon start advertising the BlackBerrys with the tag, ‘What’s in a name?’
